This book is an expression of love and fear and hope.  Love for our home, the Rogue Valley of southern Oregon, especially the town of Ashland and the surrounding foothills and mountains.  Fear that the natural and human communities here are threatened with catastrophe as the result of climate change.  And hope that our description and celebration of what is, may prepare us for what is to come – and perhaps even help prevent the worst possibilities from coming to pass.
